Lift the stopper out of the drain.
Putty installation when you are installing a sink drain and decide to use plumber s putty you must wrap the putty around the sink s drain opening before you install the drain body.
If it s still in good condition you can reuse it.
If a sink won t hold water look up behind the sink with a flashlight if needed to identify the following parts.
Find replacement parts on amazon.
If the drain stopper is not moving or closing check the adjustable link.
Reinstall the stopper and rocker arm.
A sink stopper mechanism isn t difficult to understand.

But sink stoppers fail.
If the seal is cracked or brittle the stopper should be replaced.
Remove the old seal and slip on a new one if needed.
This is a repair you can do yourself.
Clear the stopper and rocker arm of hair and debris.
It moves the stopper in the opposite direction to the lift rod.
