When cutting adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl a kiss cut is used to cut the vinyl but leave the carrier sheet or backing intact. In most cases there are two quick fixes that will fix the issue and get you cutting successfully in a hurry. Did it cut cleanly through the vinyl. If your cricut cuts through the backing there are usually one of two possible issues. Did the machine cut all the way through to the back. Place the vinyl onto the silhouette cutting mat with the backing paper side down onto the mat making sure the vinyl is covering the same area where the design is placed on the virtual mat in silhouette studio. The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade.

If your silhouette cutting mat is brand new you may want to de stick the cutting mat somewhat by blotting it with a clean t shirt. Silhouette finally has more autoblades available and is sending me a new one.
