Silhouette cameo 3 machine not seeing my whole cutting mat.
I have a cameo 1 as well but use my cameo 3 without the mat as the rollers are easier to move.
I checked a lot of tutorials and i placed the mat the same way three times.
I was then cutting like a crazy quilt and making a horrible grinding noise.
If your silhouette makes noise while cutting it is probably normal.
The mat should be lined up with the gray line on the bottom part of the cameo not pushed all the way up against the gray cylinder.
The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade.
I was frantic over the whole paused cameo 3.

Lift your silhouette s lid to make sure any tape that is connecting the motor to the side of the unit has been removed.
They can be a bit tricky.
But when in need to cut stuff with the mat and need it to cut my stickers it just cuts so off.
However the rollers are a bit different.
If you are using letter size cardstock on the cameo and not the full 12 12 mat you need to move the plastic roller on the right in to the notches towards the middle so that.
I waited some more while trying to fix the problem myself to no avail and finally i came to this site and happened upon your sage advice and my wonderful cameo 3 is again cutting like a dream.
In most cases there are two quick fixes that will fix the issue and get you cutting successfully in a hurry.
My silhouette cameo went wonky when it hit a half sheet of paper on the mat.
I was so far off.
I have worked on this problem for a few days and posted a thread yesterday called cutting top of mat silhouette cameo 3 i received numerous helpful questions and suggestions but the cure was following the suggested solution above.
You may have to work on moving the rollers on a cameo 1.

One of the most common issues from silhouette cameo beginners is that their cameo 3 autoblade is cutting through the vinyl or other material and the backing.
I was so far off.
Literally i placed the same sheet 3 different times to see if at least it was cutting off the lines but the cuts were the same the three times but not at all.
